WINNIPEG, MB: Fresh Dental, a locally-owned dental clinic with two thriving Winnipeg locations, wants patients and prospective patients to be aware of the Government of Canada’s new Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP). The CDCP is intended to help Canadians without dental coverage overcome financial barriers to accessing high-quality dental care. Eligible seniors over the age of 87 were able to begin accessing the plan in December of 2023, and by 2025, the plan will be available to all eligible Canadians.
Fresh Dental is a full-service dental clinic that offers treatments, including cleanings, fillings, implants, crowns and bridges, oral surgeries, and much more. With one location at 2195 Pembina Highway and another in Kenaston Village Mall (1863 Grant Ave.), Fresh Dental’s team of four highly qualified dentists and support staff are known for their relationship-building skills and commitment to the communities they serve. They understand first-hand the financial barriers that many Canadians face to accessing much-needed dental care services and are grateful that the new CDCP will mean more patients can book appointments to receive the quality dental care they deserve.
The Canadian Dental Care Plan is currently being rolled out to eligible Canadians throughout the country. Projected to cost the federal treasury approximately $4.4 billion per year, the plan will cover a wide range of diagnostic, preventative, restorative, and surgical dental treatments. To qualify for the CDCP, one must be a Canadian resident for tax purposes, have filed their tax return the previous year, be living without access to dental insurance, and have an adjusted family net income of less than $90,000 annually.
Dr. Lindi van Jaarsveldt, one of Fresh Dental’s owners, wants to be sure that eligible Canadians are aware that they may now be able to access coverage for dental care treatments through the Government of Canada. “We are actively educating our patients about the CDCP,” she said, “and hopeful that the information will travel to community members who could benefit from it but are still unaware.”
