Founded in 1967, Amigos Internacionales, Inc. began with a vision to provide emergency services and disaster relief across the globe. Over the years, their mission has evolved, concentrating on impactful initiatives in Africa through their Missionpoint campaign.
Today, Amigos Internacionales, Inc. is dedicated to building communities by establishing schools, and essential infrastructure like water wells, particularly in regions impacted by the South Sudan refugee crisis. About Michael E. Ryer
Michael brings over 43 years of experience to his position as President and CEO of Amigos Internacionales. Having served all over the North and East Texas area, Michael began his career as a student in Commerce, as the Music/Youth Minister at Boyd Baptist Church in Bonham, TX.
Michael married Tyler native Dana Buhman Ryer over 40 years ago, and they have 2 children.
Along with being a worship pastor, Michael has experience as a Minister of Youth, Music, Education, and Administration, along with various positions as a combination minister. He taught college at Navarro College for 5 years and was an online instructor for Grand Canyon University, teaching Old Testament, New Testament, and the History of Christianity.
Michael served alongside Dr. John La Noue, founder of Amigos and is considered by many as the leading expert in the field of Faith-based, Nonprofit leaders. Additionally, he’s been on several non-profit boards dealing with teen pregnancy at Ennis Medical Center Hospital and ACROSS (public housing for indigents of the community), having been involved in Disaster Relief for many years.
While at Cornerstone in Corsicana, he organized a ‘Red Cross Relief Warehouse’ for the Katrina and Rita Victims utilizing volunteers from around the area to warehouse and ship donated materials to South Louisiana and South Texas. Additionally, he coordinated the first 24-hour trauma/shelter for hurricane victims locally. Utilizing the nursing staff at Navarro College, medical assistance was offered to the Port Arthur residents who suffered extreme medical needs.
Michael says he is excited to see what Amigos Internacionales will be doing in the coming months and years. He believes that the best is yet to come and it is chronicled in the blog he authors on the Amigos Internacionales’ website, www.amigosii.org.
