Google Refuses to Offer Screen Repairs for Cracked Pixel Watches

Pixel Watch owners who accidentally crack their watch screens are in for a frustrating experience. Google has confirmed that they do not offer screen repair services for the Pixel Watch. This leaves users with no official repair options and no possibility of extending the device’s warranty.

While technically feasible, screen repairs are not offered, even though iFixit’s teardown of the Pixel Watch suggests it could be done with the right parts and knowledge. However, sourcing replacement parts is a challenge, especially since Google does not provide repair options. One suggestion is buying another Pixel Watch off eBay, but this may not be much cheaper or more environmentally friendly.

The issue is compounded by the Pixel Watch’s circular domed glass display, which, despite its attractive design, is susceptible to cracking. Even with careful use, some users have reported screen cracks. While some may have been lucky in avoiding such damage, the lack of repair support is concerning.

Google is not alone in this regard, as smartwatch repairs have historically been challenging for other brands like Apple. Apple Watch repairs can be costly, with prices ranging from $299 to $499 without AppleCare Plus. California’s recent right-to-repair legislation may influence the repair landscape for these devices, as it requires companies to make replacement parts available for a specified period.
