Salt Lake City, Utah – In a crowded marketplace of dog training many dog owners are justified in believing that all dog training is alike. But along the Wasatch front, one dog training company is treating this profession in a unique way.
“Most dog training companies do things pretty much the same,” said Ty Brown, owner of Ty the Dog Guy Dog Training in Utah, “They operate by simply selling time to their clients. They’ll offer three sessions of private training or maybe two weeks of board and train, for example. The problem is, what does the owner get? It isn’t defined because the definition of a trained dog is so different depending on which dog owner you talk to. We decided that we would define what a trained dog is and see if our definition resonated with dog owners in Utah.”
Brown says that dog owners aren’t interested in buying just blocks of time when it isn’t clear what will happen by the end of training. So he and his team created what they call a Signature Program, Transform Your Dog in 60 Days. It’s a program where the end goals are clearly defined and this allows a blueprint to be created to get to that training destination reliably and predictably.
The training blueprint uses a balanced dog training approach that employs both positive reinforcement and humane correction to produce a well-trained dog that is obedient both on and off the leash, even when distractions like other dogs, cats, squirrels, and people are present.
The training is delivered in a unique way with private, in-home training, online training modules, and group training combining to produce high-end results with each dog and client.
The team defines a trained dog as one who has high levels of on-leash control such that they can go to veterinary offices, pet stores, and farmer’s markets without problems. Off-leash control is taught so that dog owners can enjoy the canyons around Salt Lake without the need of a leash for their dog. Dog manners are taught to every dog so that things like chewing and house training and barking are solved. Finally, the company works heavily with anxious and aggressive and reactive dogs helping them learn how to integrate back into society and their homes with high levels of success.
The company works with dogs as young as 10 weeks old to 10 years of age.
